Let me first of all get it off my chest that I didn't weigh this morning. It wasn't that I didn't want to-although I didn't want to-it was that I was running late and I honestly didn't think about it.
Life has been so good and i know I probably shouldn't complain because there are other people in the work struggling with things much greater than what I am about to say...but I am remembering why I paid a personal trainer...I need someone to meet me. I can only push myself so far sometimes. My mind wants to go and I get mad at myself because my body says "Nope, ain't gonna happen today" and MAN that makes me frustrated with myself. I finally just took a short jog around the subdivision yesterday. But that isn't enough. The good thing is that this is a long weekend at the beach and I have no reason why but I love to go jogging at the beach. So I am looking forward to it. I think I need to find some other safe places to go walking/jogging because in the subdivision I have the option to make it short. In Daphne I knew when I had walked/jogged 2 miles from the car that I had 2 miles to get back. However when I am not feeling it I can cut it short in my subdivision here in Tuscaloosa. It's just hard when you move somewhere and don't know all of the safe and good places for this stuff.
***Side note-I also haven't found a dog park for Roxie. She loves playing with big dogs and I think the closest one is probably somewhere in Birmingham which is a shame.Anyway...back on topic***
As some of you might know (I can't remember if I have posted it or not) not only did I lose my gym but my trainer lost her house. That is a lot of rebuilding for them to get done. So I am in Limbo. I am open to ANY suggestions and I am trying really hard not to get down on myself.
So even though no weight update today here is your funny:

Check Off #3 and #14 (Part 1)
So the weekend before the Tornado hit Tuscaloosa I went hiking and camping with Mom and Aunt Debbie. This link shows you the area we were in
http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM67AE_Chattooga_River_Burrells_Ford_Bridge_Chattooga_River_Trail_Sumter_NF_SC
We drove up on Thursday night and crashed at a motel for the evening. We woke up early and started to the camp site! We got the camp site Aunt Debbie has always wanted to get and below are our tents set up
So we got everything set up and we are about to start out on the trail at the Fish Hatchery. We are pointing to "You Are Here" on the trail map!
It's amazing to me that a good 5 minutes down the trail I immediately felt immersed in nature. The fog was gorgeous and I was thankful for the help with the heat!
There were so many amazing rock formations but this was one that I took a lot of pictures of
We came to the "intersection" where we could take a left and head toward the camp ground or a right to Ellicott's Rock. Aunt Debbie had never been to Ellicott's Rock so I voted we head that way. Unfortunately since it had rained the day before we weren't able to cross what should have been a stream without getting our feet completely soaked. Knowing how much we had left to hike we decided against it. But we agreed we MUST come back and go to Ellicott's Rock! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellicott's_Rock
The trails were so well maintained! This is a wonderful bridge that we crossed. (Just a Random Though...For those girls who read "Anne of Green Gables" and saw the movie, this reminds me of the bridge where Anne left Gil.)
My Godparents are Uncle Lee and Aunt Am and their last name is "Boyd" when this fallen tree came along our path of course I had to snap a shot. Although I am pretty sure this practice is sort of frowned upon, I thought it was pretty neat!
Didn't I mention we got really silly?!
Hope you enjoyed Part 1 of our trip! I will try to get the next parts uploaded this week and then I have to get DUMPLIN MAKING uploaded too!

Below is our food station set up. It was the start of the picture taking. There are SO many pictures that honestly do not do the trip justice, so I am going to try not to show you too many of them but some I just have to share!

More pictures along the way!
So we finally made it back to the camp site and we came out right where Mom happened to be fishing! It was great! Mom had gone shopping during the day while we were camping and she bought us some steaks for dinner. We also had brought some potatoes and decided that since we hadn't had any time to do some real fishing that we would have steak and potatoes. Well......the meal didn't go as planned but it was delicious! We were a little punch drunk after the long drive up and the hike so everything seemed to be completely hilarious! See below and our burnt potato:The steaks were also a little crispy but really it was GREAT!! Mom insisted we bring marshmallows to roast and I am SO glad she did! We roasted marshmallows and had great conversations about old times and life. I don't think I can really describe how wonderful it was not be worried about a text message or a missed call. We had the best time relaxing and being with each other!

Delayed
Hey hey...Roxie was sick yesterday and I didn't get a chance to post. I was up a pound :( However I sort of knew it had to happen at some point. I am good with it and I am telling myself that after all the golf I played this past weekend that I am just building muscle! I will probably get the pics from hiking posted in a just a little while...in the mean time here is your funny for the week!
For some reason I can't get the picture to load today....just stay tuned for hiking pictures!

On a Roll!
That's right! Tuesday's continue to feel TERRIFIC! I weighed this morning and I was DOWN 2 pounds! During my vacation at the beach I started going to the driving range almost every day. It was wonderful to actually feel pretty good about how I was hitting the ball. My Dad went with me the first day and we worked on my swing and honestly the changes we made seem to be helping. So I went yesterday and again the majority of the shots were pretty good. Being as this coming weekend is Father's Day I have a feeling that I will get some quality time with Dad and work on my golf game some!
I also enjoyed my hiking trip with Aunt Debbie and Mom so much that I have done some looking online for trails in Alabama. What a wonderful (cheap) excursion when it cools off a little bit. I am learning a lot about what our beautiful state has to offer. Just trying to stay active! Hope you all are having a great week as well!

A Little High
So today I have been to the doctor and gotten 2 shots. Apparently I needed a bit of a "boost" after my vaca! I have a nasty sinus infection that has just gotten to where I couldn't take it. So the drugs are going to work and so am I. After the doctors office I ran to the grocery store for some lunch and saw this tag on a car in the parking lot-I liked it so much I circled back around to get a picture of it!
I will give the answer at the end of the post for those of you who are having trouble! HA! I also found this wonderful blog that although I believe they are done with it was still fun to read through! What was funny to me is that the father in the blog has a prosthetic leg like Neil...just click on the pirate for the blog!

I heard through my Baldwin County grapevine that there may possibly have been a meeting of the mystic society nicknamed "AML" last night. I just want to tell any of them out there reading "A tip of the Beer to You" and as for those Float 4 girls....my my my I hope you all are as crazy as ever and planning a great costume! Can't wait to go throws shopping...I promise to be there this year!
Finally I have been meaning to post this picture for a while. My uncles have called everyone "Cod" and "Codette" (female) for as long as I can remember. Well the wonderful gentlemen who came and fixed my garage door were from Kirkland Overhead Doors...although it's not spelled the same way-I just had to let them know and let my Uncles know that they stated if their store hadn't been blown away that they would have a t-shirt for you guys! They were just wonderful and did a fantastic job!
Just a random posts...hope you got a chuckle!
p.s. the answer to the tag above is "Critter Getter" It's on an exterminator's truck!

Well Well Well....
Who? Might I ask, comes back from vacation and has lost 4 pounds!??!! Um that's right-ME! I know I can't believe it! Although Mom and I ate well and cooked at the condo the majority of the time I am still amazed. For some reason when I am at the beach I love to walk/run and ride my bike. It is one of the few places that makes working out enjoyable. So I hope I am able to carry on that feeling now that I am back in Tuscaloosa! I must say that the trip was just what the doctor ordered and I feel totally refreshed and ready to jump back into my job and life!
Here is your funny for the day! ENJOY!

Post from the Coast!!!
Ahhhhh I am going to try really hard not to rub this in but I am LOVING this part of my list! Sand, surf, beautiful weather, working out...margaritas, hummmm I just can't imagine anything much better. Oh yeah and CHECK OFF #15! :)
This week in the sand has really given me time to let go, think, plan, and just enjoy my family. Mom and I got a ton done at the Condo and I have needed a little time to myself. I think that my year starting out in Tuscaloosa has been wonderful. I know there are things that I want to do and that is part of the reason why this week is so great. I don't have a gym anymore (tornado) and my trainers house was blown away so it has been hard to work out. I don't know why I enjoy running and biking so much at the beach but I really do! I have also been to the driving range almost every day...my golf game is improving and my Dad couldn't be happier being as we have a tourny coming up!
On the way down here I had the chance to stop in Wicksburg AL....I know HUGE right?! But I got to see the latest addition to the Killingsworth clan! A gorgeous baby boy and I know Amanda will kill me but I am not sure how to spell his name so rather than get it wrong I am just going to say that Amanda and Jeff make beautiful baby boys together!! It has been a long time since I have held a baby that small!
Yesterday was my Mom's birthday and I was able to bring her an Apple Fritter from Thomas' in bed with candles in it! I know I have posted about my Mom before, but I just want everyone to know that she is the best person I know. She has the biggest heart and I hope that I will be half the woman she is "when I grow up" and if I ever have children-half the Mom she is. I learned the beach bum way of life from her and loved her being down here with me every minute. We got so much done...including painting 3 rooms of the condo-her dog Bessie even helped a little! HAHA
I think that an extended weekend needs to be a part of my year every year...even when it's not a 30th year!
Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!! |
